Canon digital camera: Why chose a canon digital camera

As a retailer I can vouch for the fact that Canon cameras are amongst the hardest to keep in stock. They’re made to be both attractive and strong. They led the way in creating ultra-thin cameras and have offered some of the best innovations in professional cameras. Along with all of this, Canon has also been a recognizable and trusted name in photography as well as digital imaging for many decades.

Does this make Canon the right one for you? It just might, but there is a lot more to it. Canon has gone out of their way to make sure they can dominate the market in every camera category. If you are looking for a certain type of camera you can be nearly certain that they have what you’re looking for. Then, because of their history, you can be confident that the quality is well above par.

Starting with their lenses it will be easy to see where Canon’s quality comes from. It’s the lens technology that has followed Canon cameras into the digital age. They’ve been making lenses for over fifty years and they have constantly been improving their process. The glass they use is amongst the finest in photography and with it they offer an incredible selection of wide, telephoto and stabilized lenses. One of their latest revolutions is a glass element so thin that they were able to cut the width of their cameras in half.

The next important part of any digital camera is what is commonly called a CCD. This is the actual photosensitive part of the camera. In the past it was easy to say that all the CCDs were the same because most of them came from the same manufacturer no matter which brand you bought. Still, Canon has always offered its camera models with CCDs of various sizes—3mp, 4mp, 5mp, etc. Even now this makes it easy to find a Canon you like, and then decide what mega-pixel you wish to invest in.

In recent years Canon led the way in replacing CCD technology with what’s called CMOS. This only appears in their higher models, but it is a far more efficient way of capturing an image. When shopping for a pro camera this fact alone may make the decision for you.

Now, the best thing about Canon digital cameras is their processor. Every digital camera has one, but Canon has put so much research into theirs that they confidently claim to have the best. Currently going by the name of Digic II, their processor makes the camera faster, allowing it to do more color corrections for each image. It vastly improves upon the camera’s auto-focus and exposure metering and even helps the batteries last longer.

The greatest thing about deciding upon a Canon camera is the consistency in their lineup. For instance, the Digic II processor that is at the heart of their $5000 models is the same processor that is at the heart of their $200 models. Put all of that together with one of the lowest repair ratios in the business and it’s easy to see why Canon cameras are always a good choice.
